Exposed Aggregate Concrete in Richmond & Metro Vancouver

We pour exposed aggregate driveways, walkways and patios. Craig and Hebertson run every job.

Tell us where the project is and what you want. Photos help, but aren't required.

The Problem

What Exposed Aggregate Is

Exposed aggregate is concrete where the top layer of cement paste is washed off to show the stone underneath. It gives grip when it's wet and a natural stone look. Chilliwack rock is a popular local choice — a rounded river rock in mixed colours.

What We Do

How this service works

We build and compact the base, set forms and rebar, pour and place the concrete, then wash the surface to expose the stone. Control joints break the walkway or driveway into sections so it cracks where we want it to, not all over.

Scope

What's included — and what isn't

Every quote identifies the scope, the handoff, and what is by others. Here's what this service typically covers.

Included scope

  • Removal and haul-away of existing concrete where needed
  • Excavation, granular base and compaction
  • Forming to layout and elevation
  • Reinforcement within the quoted scope
  • Concrete placement and finishing
  • Surface wash to expose the stone
  • Control joints to break the area into sections

By others / exclusions

  • Subgrade or geotechnical requirements beyond the agreed scope
  • Utility, drainage or electrical work by other trades
  • Permits and municipal approvals where required

Process

How the work proceeds

A clear sequence so you know what happens and when.

  1. 1

    Base and compaction

We excavate to depth, bring in gravel and compact it so the base is solid.

  2. 2

    Forms and rebar

Forms set to layout and slope, with rebar or mesh laid in for the pour.

  3. 3

    Pour and place

Concrete is placed and levelled across the formed area.

  4. 4

    Wash to expose the stone

The top layer of cement paste is washed off to show the stone underneath.

  5. 5

    Control joints

Joints are cut or tooled to break the walkway or driveway into sections.

Why Can Concrete

How we approach this work

Craig and Hebertson run every exposed aggregate job. We do the base, the forming, the pour and the wash, so it's one crew from tear-out to the finished stone surface.

A clear, coordinated scope

Your written quote sets out the agreed work, the handoff, and what is by others — so responsibilities are defined before the work begins, and changes are discussed before they proceed.

Cost

What affects project cost

We don't publish prices or instant quotes. These are the factors that shape a written quote.

  • Size of the exposed aggregate area
  • How much old concrete has to come out
  • Base depth and material
  • Aggregate type and colour
  • Access for trucks and pump
